Used shipping containers for sale in Lithuania

A used shipping container is the cheapest way to get a strong, lockable and dry space for storage, a building site, a farm or a workshop. Every used container is inspected before sale, and its grade - CW or WWT - is stated clearly.

Used containers have already travelled with cargo, so expect scratches, dents or surface rust. The steel structure stays sound, though, and the container keeps out wind, rain and snow.

Used container grades: CW, WWT and IICL

GradeWhat it meansBest for
CW (cargo worthy)Watertight, structurally sound, valid CSC plateShipping by sea, rail or road, and storage
WWT (wind & water tight)Keeps out wind and water; the CSC plate may have expiredStorage, building sites, farms, workshops
IICLThe top grade of used containers, minimal wearWhen looks and a long life both matter

The grade of the containers in stock is shown under Shipping container prices. More in Used container grades explained.

What to check when buying a used container

  • Walls and roof: no holes, deep dents or rust that goes right through. Surface rust and scratches are normal on a used unit.
  • Floor: the thick plywood floor should be dry and solid.
  • Doors: they should open easily and close tightly, with intact seals and working lock bars.
  • Tightness: with the doors shut, no daylight should show inside.
  • Papers: if you will ship cargo, check the CSC plate and the container number (BIC code).

Be careful with unknown sellers - How to avoid shipping container fraud shows the warning signs.

What a used container is good for

  • storage on a homestead, farm or company yard;
  • tools and materials on a building site;
  • a workshop, garage or store for seasonal goods;
  • shipping cargo (a CW unit with a valid CSC plate).

How to make a used container last longer

A container lasts longer on level, firm ground and slightly raised, so the base stays dry and the doors don't twist. In summer and autumn condensation can form inside, so when storing furniture or paper, keep the vents clear and don't stack things right against the walls. Surface rust is easy to clean off and paint over.
